Kidnapper with Brown Eyes=Real Superhero

Once upon a time, there was a child from Millisle, County Down in North Ireland. Her name was Amy Carmichael who was born on December 16,1867. She had brown eyes but she prayed to God to change it to blue. She was rather disappointed that it never happened. but little did she know what plans God had in store for her.

Her father died in 1885 and she was adopted by Robert Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a co founder of the Keswick Convention, where Amy began to become involved more in ministry. In 1887, she heard an inspiring message by Hudson Taylor, at the Keswick Convention, which sparked her call to missions. Although Carmichael suffered from neuralgia, a disease of the nerves that made her whole body weak and achy and often put her in bed for weeks on end, she continued her endeavor in missions.

Carmichael’s first missionary work began in Japan in 1883, where she discovered sheer disappointment. The Japanese missionaries whom she was working with were not living a pure life honorable before God. As a missionary, Carmichael wanted to associate with others who were truly after God’s own heart, so after fifteen months, she left Japan and returned home to care for a sick friend. Because of Carmichael’s drive to do God’s work, she left home less than a year later and returned to missions work. Commissioned by the Church of England Zezana Mission, she made her way to India.

In India, Carmichael was truly able to get to work for God. Her main focus was rescuing the temple children, girls who were being sold as prostitutes to raise money for priests. Carmichael developed a shelter or orphanage for all of the children she rescued, which became known as the Dohnavur Fellowship. Dohnavur is situated in Tamil Nadu, thirty miles from the southern tip of India. To stay in custom, members of Dohnavur Fellowship wore Indian dress and were given Indian names. Another great sacrifice which Carmichael made to better associate herself with the Indian children was the coloring of her skin with coffee.

While serving in India, Amy received a letter from a young lady who was considering life as a missionary. She asked Amy, "What is missionary life like?" Amy wrote back saying simply,

"Missionary life is simply a chance to die."

On June 23, 1931, Carmichael slipped and fell, breaking a right arm, fracturing a thigh bone, and sustaining other damage to her hip. Still fighting strong, she spent most of her time in bed, but died at the age of eighty-three on January 18, 1951. After she began missions in India, she remained there her whole life, until her death. She asked that no stone be put over her grave; instead, the children she had cared for put a bird bath over it with the single inscription "Amma", which means mother in the Tamil.

Her biography quotes her as saying:

"One can give without loving, but one cannot love without giving."

As an IPT student, I would like to invite my fellow IPT students to wear BLACK shirt and BLUE ribbon (on wrist) for this coming Thursday (11.03.2010) to show that you're against BABY DUMPING & CHILD ABUSE. We can make a difference.

1MALAYSIA AGAINST CHILD ABUSE AND BABY DUMPING.

BLACK SHIRT&BLUE RIBBON FOR SAYING;"NO TO CHILD ABUSE AND BABY DUMPING!"

"There comes a time
When we head a certain call
When the world must come together as one
There are people dying
And it's time to lend a hand to life
The greatest gift of all

We can't go on
Pretending day by day
That someone, somewhere will soon make a change
We are all a part of
God's great big family
And the truth, you know love is all we need

[Chorus]
We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me

Send them your heart
So they'll know that someone cares
And their lives will be stronger and free
As God has shown us by turning stone to bread
So we all must lend a helping hand

[Chorus]
We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me

When you're down and out
There seems no hope at all
But if you just believe
There's no way we can fall
Well, well, well, well, let us realize
That a change will only come
When we stand together as one

[Chorus]
We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me "

I started my blog today with this song call We Are The World. Don't just sing it, live it.

After reading about CHILD ABUSE and BABY DUMPING issues form sesamamumanusia.blogspot.com and the latest local news. How could certain Malaysians be willing to hurt such an innocent soul. I mean Babies & Toddlers are an adorable divine gifts.

I checked out in the Internet, there are two social problem related websites that caught my attention.

http://www.students.org.nz/index.php?page=thursdaysinblack

Thursday in Black is an international movement to demand a world without rape and violence.

They invite people from around the world to wear black on Every Thursday as a symbol of strength and courage, representing our solidarity with victims of violence, demanding a world without rape and violence.

and

"Since 1989, thousands of people nationwide wear the blue ribbon to create awareness of the need to keep kids safe and families strong. Blue Ribbons for Kids provides easy to use resources and materials to implement a successful child abuse prevention awareness campaign."

Blue Ribbons for Kids is a website that talks about raising awareness to prevent Child Abuse and Neglect.

As a student, to make a stand against Child Abuse and Baby Dumping in Malaysia, I would like to invited every students to wear Black on 11 March 2010 and include also a blue-colored ribbon on your wrist.

By doing so you are making a stand against the following cases in Malaysia:

Child Abuse:

The first case I heard was that of Syafia Humairah Sahari and the second was Hareswarra s/o A. Kari-galam. Both are victims of child abusing.

Baby Dumping:

The first case I heard was the one that is being burned and the second was just a few blocks from where I study nearby a market place.

I know it sounds crazy but guys (Malaysians Youth&Students), Child Abuse and Baby Dumping are serious issues. We need to make a stand to say NO for both.

Share this to your friends via email,Fecebook,Blog etc as our way of saying NO TO CHILD ABUSE AND BABY DUMPING.

Sering kali kita melimpasi mereka.

So, rajin-rajinlah untuk menyapa mereka andai bertemu.. senyum tu kan sedekah..

2.Menghormati mereka sebagai warga kampus.

Mak Cik Cleaner:

Selain lecturer kita, mereka ni pun selalu kita jumpa. Tak salah rasa nya kalau kita tanya khabar mereka. Perbuatan sebegini lazimnya membuat mereka rasa dihormati sungguhpun bukan bergaji besar tetapi diakui juga sebagai warga sesebuah kampus.

Pak Guard:

Asal jumpa , selalu je nak cari kesalahan kita. Pepatah Melayu mengatakan: Berani kerana benar, takut kerana salah. Kalau rambut tu kemas, baju pun menutup apa yang patut ditutup dan tak melanggar perlembagaan Universiti, buat apa nak fobia-fobia lalu depan mereka kan.

Kalau malu sangat nak sapa, angkat je tangan buat tabik jeneral kat mereka..

3.Mengenali rakan baru.

Mak Cik Cleaner:

Ha, cuba tanya mana tau mereka ada Facebook. Tikai pernah terjumpa dengan seorang budak ni, ingatkan dia lepak dengan mak dia. Rupa-rupanya, dia sembang-sembang dengan seorang cleaner ni.

Pak Guard:

"Apa? ada student nak ugut kamu malam ni? takpa nanti i pergi bilik you, i pun nak bagi balik cerita Heroes you.."

Secara tak langsung, apabila kita selalu bertegur sapa, bagi senyum murah dekat satu sama lain. Tak mustahil, beban dan stress mereka ringan sikit. Sapa cakap kerja Cleaner dengan jadi Guard tak ada stress, cuba lah berjaga sampai pagi keliling bangunan waktu malam atau pun sapu satu dewan kuliah. Mencabar juga kerja mereka.

6.Berkongsi pengalaman baru.

7.Menceriakan suasana kampus.

"Malam nanti geng mak cik pergi tengok wayang Solomon Kane, Adik join sekali lah.."

Tikai: We always neglect these two categories of non academic staff in our campus, they clean our environment and protect us. Take a simple step to just give them a simple meaningful smile. They too can become your friends. Because friendship transcends religious, ethnic, racial differences and the various components that make up our society.

"Never abandon a friend-either yours or your father's. Then you won'tneed to go to a distant relative for help in your time of need."
